Grandkids Visit Stafford Part 1

Kent and I were excited to hear that both the Lee Family and the Kansas Carsons were coming to visit us during their spring break from school. The Lees arrived a few days before the Kansas crew came, and it snowed the first day they were here!
The girls especially were VERY excited to see snow falling from the sky.
They had to try to catch some snowflakes on their tongues.
I'm pretty sure this was Carson's first experience with snow. He wasn't as excited about it because he didn't realize what a rare opportunity it was to get to play in it!

The girls wanted to shovel the snow,
and of course, to build a snowman, even if there wasn't very much snow.
The bedroom all ready for the granddaughters to stay! I cleared out the storage room in the basement so we could set up Carson's crib in there, but I guess I didn't ever take a picture of it.
The snow melted the next day, as you can see when we went to Mount Vernon.
Kent stayed home with Carson while the rest of the Lee family and I toured Mount Vernon and the visitor's center. The picture below was taken at the tomb where both George and Martha Washington are buried.
A couple of photos taken inside the visitor's center. No pictures were allowed inside the Mount Vernon mansion.

I stayed with the girls in the children's play room while Russ and Adri looked at the displays in the visitor's center.
On Sunday afternoon the Carsons arrived from Kansas after two days of driving!
It's fun for Makayla to have big girl cousins to play with!
Chilling on Sunday afternoon.

We set up a table in the living room for the grandkids to color or do crafts.
Alexa got a little carried away with the markers and got some on her legs.
On Monday we all went to the National Zoo.

A cute row of grandchildren in front of the zebra pen.

A photo spot with the cousins.

Daniel with a panda bear in the background. The panda bears were out playing in their area. We even saw one sleeping up in a tree!
 Checking out the elephants.

 Another cute row of grandchildren:
 The Lee pack:
 The Carson crowd:
Daniel and Makayla must have been eaten by a dinosaur!!
I think everyone would agree we had a very fun day at the zoo!!
