The first day at Disney World we went to Epcot Center. When our family went to Disney World in 2001 we didn't go to Epcot Center because we were moving from Japan to Germany, so I didn't think we needed to see a place in America representing different countries from around the world!!
The first place we went to was the "Frozen" ride in the Norway section. Here are topiaries that look like Ann and Elsa in front of the entrance to the ride.
The line was pretty long and there were some technical difficulties,
but it didn't take that long to get in, which was a boat ride. We went on a couple of other rides at Epcot Center, but spent most of our time walking through the various countries represented there.
While we were there it was a flower garden festival, so there were lots of bright flowers and fun topiaries throughout the park.
The "Three Caballeros" were in the Mexico area. I remember the kids watching that show when we lived in Germany.
The topiaries above are of Donald Duck and Huey, Luey and Dewy.
Savannah wanted to take some photos of the flowers. As we were walking through the British area I saw Mary Poppins signing autographs.
We had lunch at a cafe in the French section, then the girls posed in front of the topiaries of Belle and the Beast.
This was in the Italian area, recreated to look like Venice.
Of course we had to pose in the Germany area! We didn't spend much time there, though, since it was getting late and we were getting tired.
This was the entrance to the China section.
I thought the topiaries of the pandas eating bamboo were pretty cute. This pagoda was in the Japan section.
The Torii gate reminded us of the years we lived in Japan. Note the Epcot geodesic dome nicely centered in the background.
Just another picture of the pretty flowers.
Savannah perked up when she found this fountain to play in! The grown-ups in our group sat on the benches and rested, marveling at the energy of the young!
We were in too big of a hurry to get in the line for the "Frozen" ride to pose for pictures as we entered the park, so we took the time to do it as we were leaving.
One interesting thing I noticed is that Kent and I have been to all the countries represented at the Epcot Center. They are: Germany, Japan, France, Norway, China, Mexico, Italy, Great Britain, Morocco, America and Canada.
